Wunjo represents joy, harmony, and a sense of well-being. This sequence, based on the shape of the Wunjo rune, is designed to foster a sense of happiness, inner peace, and connection to the positive forces in your life. The movement is fluid, with a focus on raising and circulating energy to bring a sense of lightness and balance. As with all qi-gong movements, your breath will guide the energy flow, allowing you to connect with the rune’s qualities of joy and harmony.
Starting Position
- Stand in a neutral posture, with your feet slightly apart, knees slightly bent, arms relaxed by your sides.
- Take a few deep breaths to center yourself. Visualize calmness and joy filling your body as you prepare to activate the energy of Wunjo.
Step 1: Raise Arms in Front
- Inhale deeply, and as you do, begin to raise your arms slowly in front of you, keeping your palms facing upward.
- Keep your arms outstretched, lifting them in a gentle, controlled motion. Visualize drawing in the energy of joy, lifting it from the earth and up through your body as your arms rise.
Step 2: Form the Shape of Wunjo
- As your arms rise to chest height, begin to bend your arms at the elbows, keeping your palms facing up as they move closer to your head.
- Continue to lift your arms until your palms are positioned overhead, palms facing downward toward your head. Your arms, bent at the elbows, should now resemble the Wunjo rune, with your body forming the straight line and your arms creating the diagonal extension.
- In this position, feel the energy of joy and harmony gathering above you, flowing down through your palms and into your body. Visualize this energy radiating throughout your entire being.
Step 3: Turn the Elbows to the Sides
- While holding the position with your palms overhead, turn your elbows outward to the sides while keeping your palms still above your head.
- This movement represents expansion and openness, as if you are embracing the joy and harmony around you. Feel the energy spread through your** chest and arms**, expanding outward with your breath.
Step 4: Bring the Elbows Back to the Center and Lower the Arms
- As you exhale, bring your elbows back in front of your body, allowing the arms to return to a neutral position in front of you.
- Visualize the energy you’ve gathered now settling into your core, bringing with it a sense of inner peace and harmony.
- Continue to lower your arms smoothly until they return to the starting position by your sides.
- With the exhale, release any remaining tension, letting your energy ground into the earth.
Step 5: Repeat the Movement
- Repeat the sequence as many times as desired, focusing on the joyful and harmonious energy of Wunjo. Each time you raise your arms, visualize drawing in more energy, and each time you lower your arms, allow the energy to integrate and balance within you.
By practicing this sequence, you can connect more deeply with the joyful and harmonious energy of Wunjo. Over time, the movement will help you cultivate an inner sense of fulfillment, balance, and contentment that you can carry with you throughout your day. Let this practice serve as a reminder that joy comes from within, and through harmony with yourself, you can radiate it outwards.
