Starting Position
- Stand in a neutral position, with your feet slightly apart and knees slightly bent.
- Keep your arms relaxed by your sides, palms facing inward toward your body.
- Breathe deeply, centering yourself, and focus on grounding your energy into the earth.
Step 1: Lift Arms at 45-Degree Angle
- As you inhale, slowly begin to lift your arms along your sides, allowing them to rise at a 45-degree angle from your body.
- Visualize energy rising from the earth through your feet and flowing upward into your arms. Your palms should remain facing inward toward your body as you lift.
- Your arms should remain relaxed, but your movements should be deliberate and strong, as if you’re lifting an invisible weight with controlled power.
Step 2: Move Arms in Front of the Body
- Continue the inhale as you smoothly bring your arms in front of your body. The palms remain inward, and your elbows should have a slight bend.
- Visualize the protective energy of Thurisaz being drawn inward and consolidated in front of you. This is where the defensive, thorn-like quality of Thurisaz is embodied.
- Maintain a controlled and steady flow of movement, feeling the energy expanding between your arms as they come together in front of your chest.
Step 3: Pull Arms Toward Stomach
- As you exhale, gently begin to pull your hands toward your stomach, keeping your hands close together in front of your body.
- Visualize the energy gathering in your core. The pulling motion represents drawing inward the primal power and protection of Thurisaz, bringing it to your center where it can be controlled and directed.
- Feel the connection between your hands and your core, as if you’re pulling protective energy directly into your body’s center.
Step 4: Make Fists and Move to Hips
- Once your hands are in front of your stomach, make fists with both hands, symbolizing the firm and defensive energy of the Thurisaz rune.
- As you exhale further, move your fists down to your hips, keeping your elbows bent and close to your body.
- Visualize yourself harnessing the defensive power of Thurisaz, bringing it to your hips like ready weapons at your side. This motion strengthens your grounding and connection to the earth, reinforcing your protective stance.
Step 5: Open Fists and Repeat
- Once your fists reach your hips, open your hands and relax your arms again by your sides.
