Nauthiz is the rune of necessity, resistance, and endurance, representing the force that shapes us through challenges and obstacles. This movement sequence embodies the transformative power of overcoming hardship and finding inner strength. As you move through the motions, you connect with the energy of patience, resilience, and the ability to adapt in the face of difficulty.

Starting Position

  • Stand in a neutral position, with your feet slightly apart, knees slightly bent, and arms relaxed by your sides.
  • Take a few deep breaths to center yourself, focusing on grounding your energy into the earth. Prepare yourself for the movements that symbolize both tension and release, a balance between resistance and flow.

Step 1: Form the Shape of Nauthiz

  • As you inhale deeply, raise your right arm up alongside your body, extending it overhead with the palm facing upward.
  • At the same time, raise your left arm slightly, but keep it below the waist level, with the palm also facing upward. Together, your body and arms should now form the shape of the Nauthiz rune, representing the vertical and diagonal lines of the rune.
  • In this position, visualize the energy of resistance and endurance building within you. You are embodying the shape of Nauthiz, tapping into the strength that comes from facing challenges.

Step 2: Turn the Body to the Left

  • As you inhale again, gently turn your body to the left toward your lower left hand. Your torso should follow this movement naturally, allowing your body to rotate with the breath.
  • At the same time, begin raising your left hand, and move your right hand to the left so that the two hands come together side by side at the same height, palms facing each other as if holding an invisible line of energy between them. This movement represents the convergence of tension and the energy of necessity, symbolizing the idea of two opposing forces coming together in harmony.

Step 3: Exhale and Lower the Right Hand

  • As you exhale, begin to lower your right hand in a circular motion, allowing it to descend gracefully back to your side.
  • As the right hand descends, rotate your torso back to the center, following the flow of the movement. Your left hand remains raised as the right hand drops, and the body moves back into the Nauthiz shape, but with the arms reversed.
  • Feel the release of tension as the right arm falls, symbolizing the resolution of resistance and the return to balance. This step represents the process of letting go after enduring a challenge.

Step 4: Reverse the Motion on the Other Side

  • Once your right hand is by your side, you are now in the Nauthiz shape with the left arm raised and the right arm lowered.
  • Inhale again, and begin to turn your body to the right, mirroring the previous motion but in reverse. Raise the right hand and move the left hand to the right until both palms meet at the same height in front of your body.
  • As you exhale, lower the left hand in a circular motion, turning your torso back to center as the left arm drops. The body returns to the original Nauthiz shape, with the right arm now raised and the left arm lowered.
  • Repeat the cycle, alternating sides in a continuous, flowing sequence.

By practicing this sequence, you can develop a deeper connection to the energy of endurance and learn to navigate life’s challenges with more grace and resilience. The movement of Nauthiz will help you embody the strength needed to overcome resistance while maintaining balance and flow. Each repetition reinforces the idea that through difficulty, we grow and transform, finding new strength within ourselves.
